Greg Wilson Gallery, a ‘must see’ attraction showcasing the talents of Australian artist, Greg Wilson. Fom adversity to diversity: artist in residence Greg Wilson displays his versatile and unique styles in painting and sculpture at his Chippendale gallery from 19 May untill 30 June 2009. Greg’s enthralling journey captures international audiences, receiving glowing documentation by Australian media. Greg’s autobiography ‘My Brush with Depression’ details the tremendous turmoil Greg experienced after a series of horrendous motorcycle accidents left him mentally and physically incapacitated. The dedication of his friends and his ability to use art as a form of escapism from his depression has placed him in the influential position he now has today. Greg is invited around the country to speak about his inspirational journey, he also represents various charities. Greg’s journey has captured the hearts and support of several influential individuals. In 2008, Greg was commission to paint an official portrait of Nelson Mandela for his 90th Birthday, which is proudly hanging in the World Leader’s home in South Africa.

St James is the oldest church in Sydney and has been in continuous use since it was consecrated on 11 February 1824. It is typical of the buildings constructed during the term of Governor Macquarie under architect Francis Greenway. Right across the road from the Hyde Park Barracks, a tour of the church will compliment a visit to this must see attraction. Tours are run daily and take in the architecture, the memorials and stained glass and the crypt. If you visit on a Wednesday there is also a lunch time concert series featuring the beautiful pipe organ.

Mount Annan Botanic Garden is the Australian native plant garden of the Royal Botanic Gardens, Sydney. It covers 410 hectares, making it the largest botanic garden in Australia and the most visited tourism attraction in the Macarthur area. The plantings are designed to display the diversity of Australian flora and will eventually include many of our 25,000 known plant species. The Garden is also one of the premier outdoor events venues in South West Sydney.
