The Margaret River Chocolate Company is one of Western Australia's most popular tourist attractions, with manufacturing, sales and café facilities in both Margaret River and the Swan Valley. The company's second factory is located in Perth's historic Swan Valley, 20 minutes from the Perth central-business-district. Both factory locations provide an insight into the world of chocolate, with visitors treated to free tastings, interactive displays, and viewing windows to watch the chocolate products being made. A wealth of information on all aspects of chocolate is available, plus a range of chocolate bars, chocolate coated delights, hand made truffles, novelty chocolates, cookies, ice-cream, chocolate milk and chocolate cakes. The Margaret River Chocolate Company's facilities also include a café for casual indoor and outdoor dining. They welcome visitors of all ages with friendly staff, plenty of parking and a fully air-conditioned environment.

The scenic drive through Bunbury, Collie and Donnybrook provides a wonderful introduction to the highlights of the southwest countryside. Take a day or two to just meander through these lovely southwest towns, or if you have time, stop off and visit the myriad of attractions that are on offer. Put your hiking boots on and explore much of this magnificent area on foot or bike. Collie Shire offers the longest part of the Bibbulmun Track and there are a magnificent range of walks and bike trails surrounding the town. Stop at one of the lookouts at the top of the Darling Ranges near Collie for a magnificent view to the coast. Visit Wellington Weir for lunch and a drive or walk around the expanse of water. You will be in awe of the beautiful countryside around Donnybrook, which maintains its lushness thanks to the high annual rainfall. Bunbury is a two and a half hour drive south of Perth and is the capital of the state’s southwest region. Don’t forget to bring your camera and take frequent stops to capture the splendour of the region and this scenically impressive drive trail.

Whale World boasts heritage and culture in this unique and educational tourist attraction. They offer an interactive journey through the former site of Australia's last operating whaling station, supported by a series of audio visual displays, artefacts and whaling history. Entrance includes a guided tour, run hourly each day from 10.00am to 3.00pm. There are more than 25 exhibits to view and explore, including stepping aboard the Cheynes IV Whalechaser, viewing the Cheynes III steam engine in operation, or walking into a jaw-dropping exhibit of whale skeletons which includes the state's largest Pygmy Blue Whale skeleton on display. The Spectravision display is not to be missed featuring "A Day in the Life of a Whaler" presentation. Three previous whale oil storage tanks have been converted into movie theatres, showing "Australian Whaling", "Shark" and three dimensional "Giants Exist", plus there are many photo galleries and whaling artefacts to gaze upon. Picnic facilities available. There is a cafe and gift store open seven days a week. Whale World is a 'must do' when visiting Albany. You don't know Albany until you visit Whale World.

Beedelup National Park is set amidst a beautiful forest in the states southwest. A highlight of the park is the Beedelup Falls. Ensure you bring your camera to capture the beauty of the falls which are spectacular in late winter when the brook is in full flow. In the springtime, you will witness some of the most prolific wildflowers in the area. Close by is a suspension bridge crossing over the Beedelup Brook which provides superb views of the falls. The Park offers several excellent walk trails and includes the “Walk through Karri.” This enormous 400 year old Karri tree has a large manmade hole cut through the middle. Stand inside the tree for a unique photo opportunity, knowing that you have 151 tonnes of tree above you. Another attraction is Beedelup Lake; a picturesque and tranquil setting to relax and take in the best nature has to offer. Located just four hours south of Perth and a short drive from Pemberton, the area has plenty to see. Climb the world’s tallest fire lookout tree - the Gloucester Tree, take a river cruise down the Donnelly River or visit some of the state’s finest wineries.

The picturesque Busselton Beachfront is home to the longest timber pier in the Southern Hemisphere, Busselton Jetty. The beachfront has a vast array of attractions to keep you entertained. Visit the Interpretive Centre at the shore end of the jetty for an insight into Busselton Jetty’s history or make the 1.8 kilometre walk down the jetty to the spectacular underwater observatory. The beautiful granite outcrop that makes up Canal Rocks is part of the rugged Leeuwin-Naturaliste National Park known for its excellent fishing and scenic bushwalking. A series of rocks jut into the ocean creating a natural canal hollowed out by the force of the sea. For the best and safest view, there's a bridge built across the smallest canal. The area is popular for fishing with salmon catches a big attraction around Easter time. There are some great bush walks in the area - the famous Cape to Cape walk passes by Canal Rocks with a route mapped from the car park to Wyadup. It's a two hour round trip hike and you'll be rewarded with stunning views over the Indian Ocean. You might even spot humpback or southern right whales migrating along the coast. Canal Rocks is about a three hour drive south of Perth.

Visit the Replica of the Brig Amity for a fascinating insight into the journey the early settlers took from Sydney to establish their new home in Albany. A perfect photo opportunity waits at this historic replica ship, with the scenic Princess Royal Harbour as a backdrop. Step aboard the full scale ship and try to imagine just how small the ship would be with more than 50 other people onboard for six weeks. Make sure to book in advance for a fascinating guided tour of the brig. While on the boat be sure to keep an eye out for the humpback whales that are often spotted in the surrounding harbour on their migration to warmer waters. Situated four and a half hours drive south of Perth; Albany is home for the replica of the Brig Amity. While in the town there are a myriad of attractions to visit, including the beautiful old Albany Town Hall, the stunning views across the city from the top of Mount Clarence and the tranquil King George’s Sound.

St Werburgh’s Chapel in Mount Barker was built as a place of worship for the original settlers of the area. Examine the excellent craftsmanship and study the history of the church. If your visit falls on a day of worship, attend one of the chapel’s regular services which are still held by candlelight as the chapel has never had electricity. St Werburgh’s Church forms part of the Mount Barker Heritage Trail, a 30 kilometre drive around the picturesque Mount Barker and surrounding area. Stop en-route to see the magnificent views from the Mount Barker lookout and visit the many sites of historical interest. Mount Barker is just over four hours drive south of Perth and the region offers a multitude of attractions to suit all tastes and budgets. A trip to the Porongurup Ranges, the oldest volcanic range in the world, will not disappoint. Wine lovers will love the large selection of first rate wineries. In close proximity to Albany and Denmark, Mount Barker is an excellent base to discover the southeast region.
