In the Central Blue Mountains of New South Wales there is a group of sand stone buildings known since 1907 as "Woodford Academy" Originally built as an Inn they have witnessed the passing of travellers on the road to Bathurst for over 160 years and provided many with refreshment and rest. Now the oldest buildings in the Mountains, they have also served at different times as Country estate, fashionable guest-house, boarding school, a place of worship and a private residence. The property is widely acknowledged as a most significant historic site in the Blue Mountains, and indeed NSW. The National Trust have renovated the buildings, reflecting the aim of the Trust to conserve all aspects of our built, natural and cultural heritage. The Academy is a testament to our valuable and often neglected heritage. Woodford Academy is open Every Third Saturday of the month (except December) From 10.00am - 4.00pm. Guided tours and refreshments are available, provided by the Friends. There is a small entry fee - National Trust members are free. Group bookings can be arranged for alternative times.

Waragil Studios in Blackheath is the workplace and the exhibition space for the paintings, prints and ceramics of award-winning artists Jan Ashby and John Caldwell. Whilst their art continues to be shown in established galleries throughout Australia, the largest selection is to be found here. John and Jan share an inspiration for the natural world and their work reflects this. They travel regularly, camping on location and gathering the reference material for the art imagery which is completed later in the studio. Jan Ashby's paintings, drawings and sculptures cover a range of subject matter including still life, landscape and figurative compositions and she has developed a particular interest in the depiction of native flora in its natural habitat. The brilliance of the kiln-fired colour and the mastery of her hand-painted technique results in a uniqueness for each piece. John Caldwell has gained wide recognition as one of Australia's leading landscape artists. While his paintings mostly consist of works on paper, they range widely in scale and subject matter. Location-based series of images for major touring exhibitions have included Antarctica, Northern France and Cornwall and the granite country of northern New South Wales

For fifteen years Goomblar held a personal dream to create this show in order to share some of the beauty inherent in Aboriginal Cultural and Spiritual Knowledge with people from all walks of life. He now brings this show to you at The Edge in the Blue Mountains of New South Wales. The didgeridoo (yidaki) is never far from Goomblar’s side. “Goomblar’s Dreaming” is the story told of how the didgeridoo first came about. A story handed down from generation to generation. The “dreaming” tells how the different sounds imitated from nature could be produced by the didgeridoo to connect the peoplehrough song and dance, to their custodial obligation as caretakers of the land and animals. Goomblar himself follows in the custom of thousands of years where the Aboriginal people of Northern Australia have used the didgeridoo both as a spiritual healing instrument and as a means to unite the people through song and dance to their cultural inheritance.
