The Apollo Bay Music Festival is firmly on the map as a major annual tourist and community event for Apollo Bay and a significant Festival for Victoria. Over the years it has also established itself as a highly regarded Festival throughout Australia and on the international circuit. The Festival continues to develop a growing Melbourne, interstate and international audience, attracting a multi-age group attendance of families, couples through to retirees. The diversity of the programming attracts new and emerging audiences, along with established followers. Excellence, variety and surprise are all key ingredients to the program. More than seventy acts across eleven venues are presented over the three day event, utilising appropriate partner-licensed and non-licensed venues, combined with two large marquee stages along the foreshore. Future festivals will continue to build upon it's reputation for presenting a dynamic program of national and international performers in a variety of genres including Jazz, Blues, Roots, Classical, Pop/Rock, Jazz World and Country as well as it's commitment to innovative and popular special events. The Festival is recognised for programming headline acts as well as discovering emerging artists. Although music is the focus, the Festival programs multi art forms including theatre, literature, film, comedy and dance.

Twenty venues host one of Australia's largest music festivals presenting roots, celtic, folk, country, bluegrass, blues, jazz, rock, crossover and world music. Australia's world famous Port Fairy Folk Festival is a major event presenting international and national artists in a four day festival of music. The festival began in 1977 and has received Victorian and Australian Tourism Awards. With more than 130 acts and 500 artists the festival is a vibrant and exciting cultural celebration which magically transforms the fishing village. First class performances are held on large stages in the Festival Arena and at venues throughout the town plus there are market stalls, buskers and street events. The Festival has broad appeal and attracts all age groups. It features a highly regarded children's festival, "The Folk Circus" and free Festival of the streets in addition to the marquee performances. It is no surprise that it has become a "must go" weekend for a huge number of family groups and friends groups as it is a complete holiday with amazing and meaningful entertainment all within easy walking in most cases. Top that off with a magnificent coastal setting in one of the oldest and most historic villages in Australia and it is no wonder that the event is world famous.

The Falls Music & Arts Festival is one of the finest, longest running, boutique music events in Australia. Boasting intimate surroundings of sheer beauty where music and arts from around the globe come together. Nestled on a farm near the beautiful Lorne beaches along the Great Ocean Road, set amongst the countries most spectacular scenery, the festival is based on European style events, including camping, a great atmosphere, music and a variety of activities and entertainment across a couple of days. Dive in with 5,000 other swimmers in the world's largest organised swim. Each year thousands of swimmers dive into a sea of history and race the 1.2 kilometre course of the Lorne Pier to Pub. The Lorne Pier to Pub started as an informal challenge among Lorne Surf Life Saving Club members. It's now an action-packed weekend attracting people from near and far to both participate in the race and soak up the carnival atmosphere. Over the past 33 years the event has grown in size and stature and now claims centre stage of a two day program that includes the Mountain to Surf Fun Run and Surf Boat Race Classic. Since 3071 swimmers took to the water in 1998, the swim has been entered into the Guinness Book of Records as the world's largest open water swim.

The Rip Curl Pro will this year be celebrating the 52nd anniversary of the Bells Beach Easter Rally and the Rip Curl Pro in Australia's surfing home of Torquay. The ASP World Tour's best 34 male surfers, one Rip Curl Wildcard and one local Victorian Wildcard from the Championship Moves Trials will be at Bells over Easter to compete in the year's second ASP World Tour contest. But it will be only one deserving winner who will get to ring the prized Bell on the final day of competition. Joining the Men and Women of the ASP will be the world's hottest 16-year-old junior talent, who will be in town competing in the international final of the Rip Curl GromSearch Series. In tow with the action in the water, there will be plenty happening on land for fans, visitors and surfers alike, between the famous Bells contest site, the local pubs and legendary parties around town. The Rip Curl Pro is the only professional sporting event allowed to be held on Easter Friday in Australia and since it is celebrating 51 years of competition at Bells, there is no better place to be for all sport fans!

The Moyneyana Festival is in its 67th year and is known for its enduring tribute to community spirit. The festival runs over five weeks from Christmas Eve through to Australia Day each year. The Festival has developed over the years to become a favourite summer celebration in the south-west of Victoria. Initiated in 1947, the festival helps to raise funds for the local hospital, and attracts crowds of 15,000 visitors each year. The 3YB Coast FM Moyneyana Festival is considered one of the longest running community festivals in Australia. Its longevity attests to the community support it enjoys. Almost all featured events are free and held in the main street, the village green or other public spaces. The only pre-requisite for the festival is to bring a picnic blanket or folding chairs. The day kicks off from 10.00am with cooking demonstrations, live music from artists featured at the Apollo Bay Music Festival, roving performers, a farmer's market featuring local produce, wine, beer and of course - seafood in abundance! Chris Talihmanidis of award-winning Chris's Restaurant is back again to host a cooking demonstration during the day, his special lobster dish winning a legion of fans at last year's festival. The event has been made possible with the support of Otway Estate Winery and Brewery, Prickly Moses, Tourism Victoria and Colac Otway Shire

The Great Ocean Road International Marathon, Festival of Running, Walking and Wheeling, will be held on the weekend of 17 to 18 of May 2014. The six-race concept caters for runners, walkers and wheelchair participants of all ages and abilities over two days. The Marathon will be held on Sunday, May 18, starting in Lorne and finishing in Apollo Bay. The Half Marathon will also be held on Sunday, starting from Kennett River and finishing in Apollo Bay. The road from Lorne to Apollo Bay provides the most spectacular and challenging course of any marathon in the world.
