Fairy Penguins in Australia

Fairy Penguins, also known as the Little Penguin, are found along the southern coast of Australia from Perth to Port Stephens. These popular tiny birds are the smallest species of penguin in the world. They are the only species of penguin to breed in Australia. Famously , these are the penguins that can be seen in their natural habitat in Manly, a beach suburb of Sydney and Melbourne’s bay suburb of St Kilda. Just outside Melbourne you can watch fairy penguins come into their nests at dusk on Phillip Island. Little Penguin colonies are also found along the coastlines of South Australia, Western Australia and Tasmania.
