Great Ocean Road experiences and attractions
The Great Ocean Walk
The Great Ocean Walk stretches for 104 kilometres from the idyllic resort town of Apollo Bay, to within sight of the magnificent Twelve Apostles. Weave through beautiful National Parks, walk deserted beaches and gaze over pristine marine sanctuaries. The walk has been designed so that walkers can step on and step off the trail at a number of places, completing short, day or overnight hikes. The trail is suitable for walkers of almost any ability. Short walks are less than two to three hours in length and vary in difficulty from easy to hard. There is plenty of accommodation along the way from luxury spa retreats to self-contained cottages and picturesque camping sites. A good starting point is the Cape Otway Lighthouse, the oldest on the Australian mainland, where it is possible to stay in the lighthouse keeper’s cottage.
