This four day itinerary will show you the best of South Australia’s Kangaroo Island, staying at one of Australia’s most prestigious wilderness retreats. If you love seeing wildlife in its natural habitat, dramatic scenery and wide open spaces and fine food and wine, you will find Kangaroo Island simply enchanting.

Day 1: Morning

On arrival into Adelaide, transfer and check-in for your Regional Express flight to Kingscote, Kangaroo Island.

Note:  Pack an overnight bag for the trip to Kingscote (KI) as luggage restrictions apply on REX flights and are strictly adhered to:  15kg checked and 7kg hand baggage. You may store excess baggage at the airport for a nominal fee.

Arrive at Kingscote Airport, Kangaroo Island.

Kangaroo Island is one of Australia’s great natural wonders, as well as one of its best and most surprising tourism destinations.  It’s a wildlife sanctuary without fences, where visitors can see Australian animals in their natural habitat.  Around 30 per cent of the island is protected as parks, and its 541-kilometre coastline includes excellent swimming and surfing beaches, a spot where you can walk among sea lions, spectacular cliffs and amazing rock formations such as Remarkable Rocks.  The island also has a growing reputation as a food and wine region, renowned especially for its honey, eucalyptus oil, marron and sheep dairy farms.

Flinders Chase National Park
Covering the western end of Kangaroo Island, Flinders Chase National Park boasts spectacular rugged coastlines, views of the vast wilderness, remarkable sculptured rocks and encounters with native wildlife. At 74,000 hectares it is one of Australia’s largest parks.
Highlights of the Flinders Chase National Park are Remarkable Rocks and Admirals Arch.

Remarkable Rocks
A huge cluster of weather sculptured granite boulders perched on a large granite dome that drops 75 metres to the sea. Walk down to the rocks on the boardwalk provided.

Admiral's Arch
The Admiral’s Arch is a remnant of the ancient cave that was broken by ocean waves and transformed into a natural bridge. Stalactites are still hanging off the top of the arch as the evidence of its unusual history. Have lunch in a secluded location.

Arrive at Seal Bay Conservation Park - the island’s most popular attraction. A breeding colony of sea lions, whose forebears managed to survive the savagery of early sealers, can be seen resting in the sun and nursing their young after feeding for three days at sea. Others ride the waves onto the beach. Today, these rare sea lions are protected by law. Under the guidance of your guide you can walk on the beach to within metres of them, or view them from the boardwalk. Upon conclusion of the day’s touring you will be dropped back at your accommodation at Southern Ocean Lodge.
