Guide to Palm Beach
Chill out in Palm Beach at the exclusive end of Sydney's Northern Beaches.
Palm Beach, or 'Palmy' as it's called by locals, lies at the end of a long peninsula, fringed by surf on one side and tranquil Pittwater on the other. Its golden sands and clear waters have inspired Sydney’s wealthy to build holiday houses on its leafy hills. But down on the ground, things still feel pretty modest when there's sand between your toes.
Fly into Sydney Airport (SYD) on either a domestic or international flight and drive just over one hour north to arrive at Palm Beach.
- Palm Beach is 45km (28mi) north of Sydney
- Car hire options are available at the airport. Pre book or hire upon arrival.
Thanks to its small size, you can get around Palm Beach on bike or foot. Alternatively, catch a taxi or self drive throughout the suburb.
Palm Beach is a popular destination for coastal activities, which is why it’s no surprise that the best time to visit is during the summer. During long weekends, public holidays and Christmas and Easter time, this suburb comes alive with locals and visitors alike. So if crowds aren’t your thing, avoid these peak times.
- High season: Summer (December to February)
- Low season: Winter (June to August)
