Travel selfies are great, but they don’t often take in all your surrounds. So, Tourism Australia created the Giga Selfie experience to help visitors to Australia get the best possible selfie souvenir of their time here.

What is a Giga Selfie?
A Giga Selfie is a short video clip which starts as a close up selfie and zooms out to reveal your spectacular surroundings. In this case, your Giga Selfie will see you placed among Australian icons, the iconic Sydney Opera House and Sydney Harbour Bridge.

How do I get my Giga Selfie?
Between Saturday 6 and Sunday 14 February 2016, you can head down to Dawes Point on Sydney Harbour from 9am to 8pm to take your free Giga Selfie photo against the backdrop of a giant Chinese dragon head installation.

How does Giga Selfie work?
Visitors stand on a designated spot and proprietary technology designed by Canon Australia and placed one kilometre (about 1,100 yards) away across Sydney Harbour takes the Giga Selfie. A link to retrieve your Giga Selfie is emailed to you for sharing on social networks such as Instagram and WeChat and to download and keep. Visit the Giga Selfie page for more information.

The Sydney Chinese New Year Giga Selfie follows a successful trial on the Gold Coast in September 2015.
