Munching Through Australia from March to June

If you love your food and wine, pack your bags for Australia to indulge in a culinary extravaganza like no other.

Whether you like indulging in fantastic food and wine amid lush greenery or by the beach with sand between your toes, there is a food festival for every taste bud in Australia.

The best part? Many take place in the cool Autumn-Winter period, which offers us an opportunity to escape the year-round tropical heat while enjoying some of the freshest produce in the world. Here are three delicious festivals worth travelling for from March to June.

Melbourne Food & Wine Festival

Melbourne Food & Wine Festival, Melbourne, Victoria

Learn, eat and do at the annual Melbourne Food & Wine Festival, which runs for 17 days from the end of March across various locations. Park your appetite at the Food Truck Stop, which gathers some of the city’s best meals-on-wheels along the Yarra River. The event offers traffic-stopping fare and a special dish, created exclusively for the festival. What’s more, entry is completely free-of-charge!

Travelling with kids? Little Foodies, a free event at the Yarra Promenade, brings together big and little foodies alike for three days of educational, fun-filled activities. Children can get their hands dirty picking seasonal produce straight from the soil while parents pick up tips on how to cook them. Face painting stations and healthy snack stalls also keep families entertained.

Noosa Food & Wine

Noosa Food & Wine,
Sunshine Coast, Queensland

Craving a beachside dining experience? Noosa Food & Wine is the place to be. Held on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast in May, the festival is the perfect escape from the winter chill. A celebration of Australian food, wine, weather and lifestyle, it takes place in various locations — on Noosa’s Hastings Street near Noosa’s Main Beach, Noosa River, at the Noosa Farmers Market and more.

Look forward to a delicious range of produce, master classes and soirees helmed by master chefs and leading producers. Event-goers can also participate in bespoke dining experiences, which in previous years have included offerings such as a seafood trail to the nearby Makepeace Island.

Australian Sport

Australian Sport

Sport is something of a national obsession in Australia. We're avid followers of ‘footy', which covers everything from rugby union to the uniquely Australian AFL. We play backyard and beach cricket all summer and turn out in our thousands to watch the iconic Boxing Day test at Melbourne's MCG. Summer is also the season we become amateur commentators at our Grand Slam tennis tournament. We have lush, championship-designed golf courses across the country and host many premier golf events. Our marathons attract hundreds of thousands of runners and rev-heads everywhere know about our car racing events such as the Formula 1 Australia Grand Prix.
