Go deep-sea fishing for tuna, marlin and shark at Bermagui or taste the fresh catch at a harbourfront restaurant. Swim and surf from the sandy white beaches around town or take a dip in the idyllic Blue Pool. Visit Wallaga Lake, which has special significance for the Yuin Aboriginal people.

Taste award-winning cheeses amongst the vivid green hills of dairy country at Bega. See the work of local artists in the gallery and take a heritage walk around town. Have a picnic alongside the Bega River or swim in a tranquil rock pool at Mumbulla Creek Falls.

Follow the Tathra-Bermagui Road along the ancient, sea-sculpted coastline of Mimosa Rocks National Park to the quaint town of Tathra. The road also links many Sapphire Coast wineries, galleries, cafes and restaurants. Spot penguins and seals from the historic wharf at Tathra. Learn about the town's maritime heritage in the museum or snorkel around Mimosa Rocks. To the north lies the serene sanctuary of Bournda National Park, with its empty beaches, freshwater lakes and rugged cliffs. Camp next to grazing kangaroos and wallabies and walk amongst thousands of local wetland birds at Wallagoot Lake. 

Picturesque Merimbula has long been a popular vacation town for Australians. Surf from the sweeping stretch of Main Beach or picnic beneath tea-trees and banksias at Short Point and Tura Beach. Cruise, sailboard and canoe on Lake Merimbula on your way to the river village of Pambula, where many of the buildings date back to the 1850s. Walk around the freshwater lagoon at Pambula Beach and taste the town's famous fresh oysters.

The pretty town of Eden is one of Australia's best whale-watching locations. Visit the Killer Whale Museum and learn about Australia's early whaling history. Explore the area by sea kayak or scuba dive with shipwrecks. Follow the Light to Light Walk between Boyd's Tower in the south of Ben Boyd National Park to Green Cape Lightstation at the northern end of the park.
