The Twelve Apostles,
Great Ocean Road, VIC
'There's nothing like being surprised and consumed by the great expanse of this beautiful land, where even a running kid stops in his tracks.'
Malaysian businesswoman Tiat Yen found both memories and surprises when she returned to Victoria with her godson and godson's family. She rediscovered her former home town of Melbourne, and had the new joy of exploring the Great Ocean Road with an “active two year old”.
“It was a great holiday to catch up since I was back in Melbourne only for a short stint,” explained Tiat Yen, who had previously lived in Melbourne for almost a decade.
“To be ‘home' and enjoying Melbourne but also to see this great place through the eyes of a tourist was very refreshing” she said.
The family also spent a weekend on a working farm not far from the city, where they could interact with animals and experience the rituals of rural life.
“We saw how cows today are milked with huge machines. It was mind blowing! Though I was sad I couldn't get to milk a cow the traditional way. I also experienced how sneaky a goat can be when Billy snuck up on my godson and head butted him,” Tiat Yen said.
