From hunting and gathering cockles and mussels with only the aid of a spear and two brothers whose heritage pre-dates dinosaurs, to dining under a ceiling of stars in the oldest living rainforest in the world. Visit two World Heritage-listed sites, The Daintree Rainforest and Great Barrier Reef.
DAY 1: PAPERBARK MELALEUKAS, PALM TREES AND TREEHOUSES
Palm Cove, Tropical North Queensland.
Morning Arrive at Palm Cove, a coconut fringed town north of Cairns. This idyllic tropical paradise, home to gourmet beachfront restaurants, is located between two World-Heritage listed areas, the Daintree Rainforest and Great Barrier Reef.
Afternoon Enjoy the views over the Coral Sea whilst enjoying lunch at Palm Cove’s ultimate beachfront restaurant, NuNu. Experience an Indigenous-led Mossman Gorge Dreamtime Walk through the ancient landscape. Join Indigenous guides for a journey through the Daintree Rainforest and connect with the lives, cultures and beliefs of Australia’s Indigenous population.
Evening Check in to Silky Oaks Lodge, located in the heart of the world’s oldest rainforest, the Daintree. Silky Oaks Lodge is the epitome of luxury and tranquility. Feast on fresh seasonal produce at the signature open sided Tree House Restaurant, which is perched high above the surrounding rainforest.
DAY 2: RAINFOREST TO REEF FOR THE ULTIMATE PICNIC
Vlasoff Sand Cay, Great Barrier Reef, Queensland.
Morning Head to the skies to fly over the Great Barrier Reef landing on a sparkling sand cay for the ultimate beach picnic. Relax on the squeaky white sand and swim in the clear blue waters before the tide rises to wash away your footprints.
Afternoon Enjoy a crisp, local ale from the new Hemingway’s Brewery. These beers are brewed on site and are crafted from the finest Australian hops, locally sourced base malts, and of course, the crystal waters from the Mossman Gorge.
Evening Go on a gourmet seafood adventure with Head Chef Goran Zonai from Salsa Bar and Grill. Nestled among palm trees on the coast line of Port Douglas, you will easily lap up the relaxed north Queensland vibe at this tropical treat.
DAY 3: INDIGENOUS WALKABOUT AND BUSHTUCKER
Learning to spear fish with the locals at Cooya Beach, Tropical North Queensland.
Morning Join local Indigenous guides Linc and Brandon Walker (Kubirri Warra brothers) on their beach, mudflat and mangrove walk as they show you traditional methods of catching seafood. The brothers follow the traditions of their ancestors who, for thousands of years, educated visitors about their Kuku Yalanji culture.
Afternoon Return to Silky Oaks Lodge to refresh and transfer by car to Cairns. Check into the Shangri la Hotel Cairns. This afternoon is at your leisure.
Evening Learn about Australian bush tucker with Chef Craig Squire from Ochre restaurant. A bush food tutorial will have you tasting several native foods, both in their raw state and in various dishes that complement local seafood culminating in a multi-course bush food inspired degustation.
DAY 4: WONDER WALL, PRISTINE WATERS AND ADVENTURE DRIFT
Upolu Reef Great Barrier Reef, Queensland.
Morning Cruise out to the World Heritage listed Great Barrier Reef to snorkel and explore the colourful coral gardens with Ocean Freedom. Their 20 metre luxury cruiser visits two stunning reefs at Upolu Cay. The crystal clear, safe, shallow waters make it the perfect spot to find Nemo or Dory.
Afternoon Cruise back to Cairns with Ocean Freedom after your full day trip to the Great Barrier Reef.
Evening Follow the locals to the popular waterfront restaurant, Waterbar and Grill to feast on grain-fed, aged organic beef selected from the Atherton Tablelands' Morganbury Meat Company. A special baste, developed in-house, is added to the meat which is then flame-grilled to ensure excellent texture and flavour are the highlight of this dish.
DAY 5: HOMEWARD BOUND
Cairns Lagoon, Cairns, Tropical North Queensland.
Morning Board your flight from Cairns to Brisbane. Connect with your flight to your home port. Depending on your international connecting flight, we would love to offer you an overnight stay in Brisbane.
