Spectacular mountain landscapes, wild rivers, impressive escarpments, snow gum forests and wide open grasslands known as the high plains are some of the characteristics of Victoria’s stunning High Country – just three hours out of Melbourne. 

The charming Italian families of Victoria’s High Country provide a warm Aussie welcome. The stunning King Valley region specialises in Italian wine varietals such as Prosecco and Sangiovese and local produce includes regions includes butter, cheese, honey, fruit and more. 

En route back to Melbourne, the boutique Yarra Valley wine region offers some of the Australia’s most interesting boutique wines, craft beers and gin.

DAY 1: OUTDOOR FEAST AMONGST THE VINES

Boyntons Feathertop Winery, High Country, Victoria

Evening
Arrive at Fowles Winery, home to the award-winning Ladies Who Shoot Their Lunch wine label, to an outdoor sunset feast of local rabbit cooked over an open fire with delicious produce from the area whilst drinking the award-winning wine sitting next to the vines that it came from.

 

DAY 2: BEHIND THE SCENES AT BEECHWORTH AND BRIGHT

 

Milawa Cheese, High Country, Victoria

Morning
Travel to King Valley Dairy with your host, hatted chef Michael Ryan of Provenance Beechworth. Meet Naomi Ingleton, famous cultured butter-maker at her new facility for a sumptuous and indulgent breakfast in the bush.

Afternoon
Spend the afternoon exploring historic Beechworth (home of Ned Kelly) and Bright and all the dairy, produce, breweries, wineries in between. With local chef, Michael Ryan as your host – get behind the scenes at Giaconda and Castagna wineries which both have international status for their amazing granite country wines. 

Evening
Enjoy a very special sunset dinner in the gourmet town of Bright, overlooking Mount Buffalo, hosted by chefs of local, award-winning restaurants Tani Eat Drink, Provenance and Yami. 

DAY 3: BALLOON FLIGHT, WAGYU AND OPERA IN THE VALLEY

Melba Estate, Coombe Yarra Valley, Victoria

Morning
Wake early to board your sunrise hot air balloon flight taking in the King Valley and High Country from the air. On arrival back at Brown Brothers Winery in Milawa, enjoy a gourmet Prosecco breakfast at the award-winning Patricia’s table. Head out of the High Country to Alexandra – the home of David Blackmore’s famous Wagyu beef farm. 


Afternoon
Spend a few hours with David and Ben Blackmore on the farm. Blackmore Wagyu is an award winning and internationally recognised producer of 100% Fullblood Wagyu beef, meaning the cattle are not diluted with any other breed. Enjoy a typical Aussie BBQ, with local craft beers, ciders and wines as you taste delicious beef. You'll be joined by one of David’s staunch supporters, Australian Chef and restaurateur, Neil Perry. 

Evening
Travel a short distance to the nearby Yarra Valley wine region. Take a step back in time with an opera performance at Coombe Estate – the former home of legendary opera singer Dame Nellie Melba. Enjoy cocktails by the pool once frequented by Charlie Chaplin followed by a dinner showcasing seasonal and predominantly estate grown produce in the beautifully restored motor house and historic clock tower. 

DAY 4: BREAKFAST WITH THE KOALAS

Healesville Sanctuary, Yarra Valley, Victoria

Morning
En route back to Melbourne, stop off at the Healesville Sanctuary to enjoy a breakfast of local sparkling wine, fruit, cheese and local meats amongst the kangaroos, koalas and other Aussie animals in this award-winning sanctuary.
