Besides more than 100 wineries, you'll be spoilt for choice with many fine restaurants, boutique breweries and fresh produce, from divine cheeses to chocolate. It’s no wonder that the world’s top chefs choose to visit the region each year for the renowned Margaret River Gourmet Escape. From Perth, it's an easy 3 hour drive via coast or country.

 

DAY 1: CAVES AND THE COAST

Castle Rock, Margaret River, Western Australia

Morning
Fly into Perth and transfer by private car to Margaret River, a three hour drive south of Perth, where you will check into your luxury boutique accommodation, Cape Lodge.

Afternoon
Indigenous people have lived in the region for more than 50,000 years. Local Wadandi elder, Josh Whiteland of Koomal Dreaming, will take you on a personalised tour, starting with a short, guided bushwalk, learning local Noongar knowledge about the region and foraging for native bush ingredients.

Evening
Tonight you will dine in Cape Lodge’s lakeside restaurant, starting with a seasonal Harvest Produce Platter. This restaurant features home grown produce plucked from nearby oceans, local farms and their kitchen garden to create fresh, innovative cuisine. The wine list is extensive and features back vintages from Margaret River’s great wine estates. 

 

DAY 2: DISCOVER THE SECRETS OF MARGARET RIVER

Leeuwin Estate, Margaret River, Western Australia

Morning 
Start the day with a canoe trip down the tranquil Margaret River with Sean Blocksidge. It’s a peaceful beginning to your all day Margaret River Discovery Tour. Your next stop is an ancient waterhole to spot freshwater marron and wildlife and to taste local honey.    

Afternoon
Enjoy a tasting in the barrel room at one of the region’s emerging superstar wineries, Fraser Gallop Estate. Then head to lunch at the award-winning Leeuwin Estate. Here you will taste four courses matched with Art Series wine. Afterward, stop in at a couple of artisan producers before heading back to your accommodation.  

Evening 
This evening enjoy a private dinner at Cullen Wines. One of the original vineyards in the region, this biodynamic and organic winery is also renowned for its restaurant, with much of its fresh produce sourced from its organic garden.

 

DAY 3: UNCOVER MANJIMUP’S BLACK TRUFFLES 

Manjimup truffles, Southern Forests, Western Australia

Morning
Enjoy a day trip from Margaret River to Manjiimup with Go Instyle to Discover the tastes and demystify the intrigue that surrounds the unique black truffle. Enjoy the scenic drive from Margaret River to Manjimup, an area abundant with fresh produce. Before lunch tour a truffle farm and talk with the farmer. 

Afternoon
Top the day off with a late lunch at Oak Valley Farm, one of the region’s most successful truffle businesses, and enjoy black truffles matched with local delicacy, marron, a seafood indigenous to WA. 

Evening
Tonight will be all about good food, good wine and good jazz music. Morries is a local favourite haunt; think inventive cocktails, tasty tapas and mouth-watering meals being dished up in a relaxed dining setting.  

 

DAY 4: OCEAN VISTAS

Bunker Bay, Dunsborough, Western Australia

Morning
Enjoy a casual breakfast overlooking the ocean at The White Elephant café – part-owned by chef Tony Howell who was previously the award-winning executive chef at Cape Lodge. Afterward take a morning stroll on the beach before heading back to your accommodation to check out.  

Afternoon
Lunch will be at the scenic Eagle Bay Brewery Restaurant where they use local produce and pluck citrus and vegetables straight from their kitchen garden. They serve up delicious modern Australian style fare that complements their selection of handcrafted beers and wines.

Evening
Catch a couple of last ocean views as you head through Dunsborough on your way back to Perth, in preparation for your trip home.
