“Exploring Australia with my family has been the most incredible experience and one I will never forget. The natural beauty of Australia always surprises me, from the Red Centre and Uluru's desertlandscapes, to the gorges and remote waterholes of the Kimberley, to vibrant islands like Hayman Island where you have crystal clear water and white sand beaches. Australia really does have it all." – Chris Hemsworth, global ambassador and actor.

Based on Chris Hemsworth's recent trip to Australia, we've curated a luxury nine day trip that will take you from the spiritually imbued red sands of the outback, through swathes of wilderness and rugged mountains to serene white beaches and tropical waters.

DAY 1: BEGIN YOUR JOURNEY IN THE RED CENTRE

Field of Light,
Uluru, Northern Territory

Fly to the spiritual heart of Australia, the Red Centre. There are two options to get here: take a daily flight that operates from Sydney, Melbourne and Cairns to Alice Springs, then transfer for your flight to Uluru; or fly direct to Ayers Rock Airport at Uluru, depending on your origin. Once you land, be transported to your hotel, Sails in the Desert – Ayers Rock Resort. Begin your first day in the outback by travelling to the base of Uluru with SEIT Outback Australia. You'll witness the beautiful Mutitjulu Waterhole, view Aboriginal rock paintings and learn about the rich indigenous history of the area. In the late afternoon you will travel to the viewing area to see the sun set over Uluru with appetisers and drinks, before departing for Field of Light. Set in the heart of the Northern Territory, more than 50,000 solar-powered stems crowned with glass spheres light up at sunset and glow throughout the night. Return to Sails in the Desert for an unforgettable four-course dinner at Tali Wiru, which includes dishes such as kangaroo rillettes, Darling Downs wagyu fillet, glacier 51' toothfish and twice-baked Heidi Farm Gruyere soufflé.

DAY 2: SEE ULURU AT SUNRISE

Uluru, Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park, Northern Territory

You’ll need to wake early this morning for a sunrise viewing of Uluru with SEIT Outback Australia. Wear a few layers of clothing if you’re visiting during the winter months (June to August) as it can get chilly. You'll be picked up from your hotel and travel to the viewing area, Talinguru Nyakunytjaku, to watch the first rays of the day rise above the desert plain to light up Uluru. Your guide will tell you the songlines or children’s stories handed down by generations of Aboriginal Anangu elders. After watching the sunrise, you will return to Ayers Rock Resort. Take a transfer from your hotel to Uluru airport where you'll catch a 3½ hour flight to Darwin, via Alice Springs. You’ll spend the night at SKYCITY Darwin, a hotel set just off Mindil Beach. Much of Darwin's action happens along its waterfront, which is lined with restaurants, shops, sandy lagoons and parkland. Pick up delicious Asian street food from the Mindil Beach Sunset Market (May to October) and watch the sunset over the Timor Sea.

DAY 3: DARWIN TO KUNUNURRA

Berkeley River Lodge,
Berkeley River, Western Australia

Enjoy a lazy breakfast looking over the swaying sailboats of Cullen Bay Marina, then head to Darwin airport to board your one hour flight to Kununurra. You'll be staying at the Berkeley River Lodge, which is nestled on an exclusive, privately owned property. To get here you will need to book a scenic air transfer, which departs from Kununurra (or Darwin) daily. In the afternoon take a helicopter flight for an introduction to the Kimberley region. The journey will take you to the coast before heading inland across Kimberley country, including the King George Falls. Keep an eye out for turtles and crocodiles and you may even spot a dugong, an elusive marine mammal. Lastly, you will land by a picturesque waterhole for a late afternoon swim.

DAY 4: CRUISE THE BERKELEY RIVER

Casuarina Falls, Berkeley River,
Western Australia

Start your day with breakfast in Dunes Restaurants at Berkeley River Lodge before embarking on a full day river cruise. The Berkeley River is incredibly scenic, bordered by rock escarpments and filled with secret waterholes, and is home to an array of wildlife such as saltwater crocodiles, wallabies and an abundance of birdlife. You will have the opportunity to disembark and hike to the headwater, a walk that takes about 30 minutes, before going to a secluded location for lunch, served on board the boat. After lunch you will explore the Casuarina Falls on foot, or fish from the boat deck. The cruise will have you back at the lodge in time for dinner.

DAY 5: DISCOVER THE TROPICAL PARADISE OF CAIRNS

Esplanade, Cairns,
Queensland

After enjoying breakfast at the lodge, depart by scenic transfer for Darwin airport. From here, take a 2½ hour flight to Cairns. Make reservations at Shangri-La Hotel at the Marina, where you can kick back by the pool, cocktail in hand. Ease into tropical holiday mode with a stroll along the oceanfront Cairns esplanade, the city’s social and recreational hub. Cool off in the huge saltwater lagoon or take a walk through the Cairns Botanic Gardens and enjoy a lazy afternoon on the rainforest-fringed Mission Beach.

DAY 6: STAY IN LUXURY ON HAYMAN ISLAND

One&Only Hayman Island,
Queensland

Stop for an alfresco breakfast at one of the cafés along the Cairns esplanade before heading to the airport for your one hour flight to Hamilton Island. From there take a helicopter or seaplane transfer to your accommodation at One&Only Hayman Island. Nestled close to the northernmost point of Australia's Whitsunday archipelago and in the heart of the Great Barrier Reef, One&Only Hayman Island has a reputation as one of Australia’s finest luxury and leisure destinations. Enjoy a late lunch at beachfront restaurant Aquazure, with breathtaking views of the Coral Sea, then spend the afternoon relaxing by the pool or join a sunset sail of the Whitsunday Islands. With palm-fringed white sand beaches surrounded by clear blue waters, the Whitsunday Islands are the epitome of a tropical paradise.

DAY 7: EXPLORE THE ISLAND BY BOAT AND ON FOOT

Blue Pearl Bay,
One&Only Hayman Island,
Queensland

Today you'll spend the morning immersed in the pristine waters of the Whitsundays for a half-day dive and snorkel tour. You'll experience the beautiful fringing coral reefs of the archipelago and encounter some of the best diving in the world; get up close and personal with giant maori wrasse, schools of small barracuda and amazing coral formations. The boat will be moored for two hours, during which you can dive, snorkel, swim or simply relax. In the afternoon choose from a number of walks to explore Hayman Island. The 1.5 kilometre (0.93 mile) Whitsunday Lookout offers great views over the marina and along Whitsunday Passage, or follow the three kilometre (1.9 mile) trail to picturesque Blue Pearl Bay, one of the island's loveliest beaches.

DAY 8: DISCOVER THE REEF’S HIDDEN SECRETS

Great Barrier Reef,
Whitsundays, Queensland

Today you'll experience the outer Great Barrier Reef with an exclusive visit to some of its most secluded and precious areas on an unforgettable day trip. At the less-visited Bait Reef, snorkel or dive the clear waters to see coral and a diverse range of marine life including colourful reef fish, huge groupers, turtles and manta rays. Other dive sites include Stepping Stones, Paradise Lagoon and Manta Ray Drop Off. With all equipment provided, you will have plenty of opportunities to snorkel, dive or swim.

DAY 9: UNWIND AT ONE&ONLY

Ocean Dreaming,
One&Only Hayman Island,
Queensland

Spend your final morning relaxing at the One&Only spa. There are a number of signature treatments which can be easily tailored to your needs. Float on the turquoise sea for the 90 minute Ocean Dreaming package, where the massage table is set up in the ocean surrounded by tropical fish. Or you may prefer the Rainforest Massage, an aromatic treatment with calming botanical oils set in the spa cabana under a rainforest canopy. After your morning of pure indulgence, take the helicopter or seaplane transfer back to Cairns airport for your journey home.
