These very rare flowers are only found in one area in the world - the Mid West. Coorow is lucky enough to have numerous locations of Lechenaultia Macrantha, also known as Wreath Flowers, around its Shire. Such locations include the Williams Road gravel pit (32 kilometres from Coorow along the Coorow Latham Road) and Muriels Lane (en route to Williams gravel pit). Take the opportunity to see these magnificent plants in their prime while they are out, only from July to October annually.

Lake Hillier

Middle Island, Recherche Archipelago Nature Reserve, ESPERANCE - BAY OF ISLES,
Cape Arid, Western Australia 6452

Picture a lake of the brightest bubblegum-pink sitting beside the deepest blue ocean. Lake Hillier is one of the extraordinary sights you'll see flying or cruising through the pristine wilderness of the Recherche Archipelago. Located on Middle Island, the largest of the Recherche islands (11 kilometres from the coast of Cape Arid National Park), this striking phenomenon can be accessed by chartering a plane or boat with nearby tour operators in Esperance. The lake is separated from the Southern Ocean by just a thin strip of sand and it's widely believed that the water's permanent strawberry milkshake colour is due to the extremely high level of salinity. This discovery was made as early as 1802, when Matthew Flinders led an expedition to the islands and collected a sample from the lake, but there has been no definitive proof that salt is the source of its unique hue. Measuring just 600 metres wide and shaped like a footprint, this relatively small feature has a huge impact when viewed from a scenic flight or cruise, and the untouched islands of the Recherche Archipelago create a stunning backdrop, rich in marine life.

Adrienne Truscott: Asking For It

Perth, Western Australia 6000

A Perth Comedy Festival event. Adrienne Truscott's Asking For it: A one lady rape about comedy starring her p***y and little else. The sell out hit of the Sydney Festival returns for two nights only. Adrienne Truscott, one-half of the infamous Wau Wau Sisters, dressed only from the waist up and ankles down, undoes and does in the rules and rhetoric about rape, comedy and the awkward laughs in between. With commentary from George Carlin, Louis C. K. and Robert De Niro, ducks, whistles and enough gin and tonics to get a girl in trouble, she lets her p***y do the talking. Set to pop music. Can you make jokes about rape? She plans to, all night long. Even if you tell her to stop. Winner - 2013 Edinburgh Fringe Foster's Panel Prize. Winner - 2013 Malcolm Hardee Comic Originality.

Daniel Kitson: Polyphony

180 Hamersley Road, PERTH,
Perth, Western Australia 6008

A Perth Comedy Festival event. Polyphony. By Daniel Kitson. Daniel Kitson has written a play. It has a pretty epic scope, a relatively grand vision and somewhere in the region of twenty characters. It is, basically, a real humdinger. Unfortunately though, it is a script so ambitious, so demanding, so exquisitely detailed that handing an actor this text and putting them in front of an audience is like handing a toddler a pint of coffee and putting them in front of a zipwire. It won't end well. So instead, he has pre-recorded each actor, in isolation, onto a separate tape. Leaving a litany of individual voices - each of them perfect, captured on a tape that will, when played back in precise unison, form a glorious theatrical polyphony. The play is perfect. The tapes are perfect. He just needs enough people to press play. That's all.
