Bicheno’s Glass Bottom Boat operates from Bicheno, on Tasmania's east coast from September through April. The cool temperate waters offer excellent viewing of the creatures that live there and the luxuriant and rarely seen plant life is a spectacle itself. Your guide has many years of experience and can offer comprehensive and knowledgeable interpretation. Every day is different and the effect of the East Australian current is at times dramatic with many different life forms travelling in it. The trips are subject to weather, so please telephone ahead for a daily update on conditions and sailing times. You can also check the blackboard at our office/museum at the Gulch in Bicheno. Your Quad Bike Adventure departs from stunning Coles Bay on the East coast of Tasmania and gateway to the Freycinet Peninsula. Tours begin with a half hour training session to learn the basics of riding the quads, including safe ATV handling and riding technique. From here your guide takes you on an unforgettable journey through the coastal forest along 4WD tracks to either of two stunning destinations. Ride to south Friendly beaches, a pristine white sandy beach that can otherwise only be accessed by foot or by four wheel drive. Or travel through boulder strewn valleys to Bluestone Bay and then on to admire the Coastal Cliffs surrounding Cape Tourville Lighthouse. Our exhilarating Half Day Explorer includes both destinations plus an appetising lunch. We place a strong emphasis on interpretative tours of the National Park and pride ourselves on providing our clients with a full appreciation of this magnificent coastal environment with its rich cultural, historical and environmental heritage. Maria Island Ferry and Eco Cruises provide tour services around Maria Island, in Tasmania's East. Maria Island is a wildlife sanctuary within a superb National Park. It boasts an eclectic mix of World Heritage convict history, wilderness, pristine beaches, a protected marine reserve, and a bonus of sharing the island with its wildlife. This is a bird watcher's paradise, with over 120 species to find. You have many options to explore Maria Island, with various levels of walking and mountain bike riding ranging from easy to challenging, and short to overnight. Consider staying overnight and enjoy the early mornings and the peaceful evenings. The Maria Island Ferry travels daily between December and April. You can also join us on a Cruise and Walk package to view the majestic coastline including the Fossil Cliffs, Mount Bishop and Clerk and the Painted Cliffs, then step ashore to see it up close. We have mountain bikes for hire and can organise a lunch pack for you so you can enjoy an even bigger taste of Maria Island. Triabunna is a 75-minute (84 kilometre / 52 mile) drive North-East of Hobart, and then Maria Island is a 30-minute ferry trip from Triabunna.

Part of Great Walks of Australia and Great Walks of Tasmania, the Maria Island Walk is a four-day guided journey through stunning coastal and mountain landscapes. Explore an island national park that is a Noah's Ark for Tasmanian wildlife and has fascinating layers of cultural and natural history. The walk features pristine secluded beaches, elegant tall forests, stunning vistas and many rare and endangered birds. The convict settlement pre-dates Port Arthur and you can explore the ruins from the industrial period of Bernacchi's era, as well as the natural wonders of the Fossil cliffs and beautiful sandstone sculptures of the Painted Cliffs. This award-winning walk offers gourmet Tasmanian food and wines; accommodation in private wilderness camps and an authentic colonial experience in the restored, heritage-listed Bernacchi House in Darlington. The Maria Island Walk provides relaxation with two friendly and knowledgeable guides and a maximum of ten guests per trip. Bicheno Dive Centre offers diving trips around Bicheno with guides for qualified divers in Tasmania. You can experience the superb diving waters off Bicheno, said to be one of the most exciting locations for undersea diving in Australia. You will explore magnificent sponge gardens and spectacular kelp forests. Most sites are within the Governors Island Marine Reserve, protected for its diverse underwater life. Bay of Fires Dive offers scuba diving opportunities in Binalong Bay on Tasmania’s north-east coast. Bay of Fires Dive is Scuba Schools International affiliated and provides dive charters and instruction at Binalong Bay. The six-metre (19.6 foot) Haines runabout boat takes divers to the many sites along the coast. Most dive sites are no more than 15-minutes from Binalong Bay boat ramp. Bay of Fires Dive proprietor, Peter Paulsen and dive instructor Bruce Annear, have a wealth of diving experience and knowledge. Peter is a long time resident who has an extensive background in abalone diving and fishing. He has dived the area extensively and is highly knowledgeable on the Bay of Fires coast. Bruce has been involved in diving for over 25 years and instructing for 10 years. He has dived extensively along Australia’s eastern coastline and several locations overseas. He has been actively diving the Bay of Fires area since moving south from Melbourne.

Bicheno Penguin Tours takes you to see fairy penguins at dusk on Tasmania’s east coast. The nightly evening tours offer a rare and thrilling chance to visit a private rookery. You can watch the fairy penguins (also known as the little penguin) emerge from the ocean and head for their homes. Established by Bicheno locals to protect the penguin population, the tour lets you get close to the penguins without disturbing their nightly journey. Tours operate daily except Good Friday and Christmas Day. Tours depart at dusk and penguin numbers vary seasonally. Bookings are essential for penguin tours.
