Western Australia farewells the old year with free entertainment at Perth’s street party in Northbridge. The centre of the city is transformed into a family-friendly pedestrian mall with al fresco dining and roving street performers.

People from all around the world join the party at Sullivans Cove, on Hobart’s historic waterfront to cheer the new year with crews from the Sydney to Hobart yacht race. In Canberra, Australia’s national capital, the action includes free music concerts, dance parties, picnics in the park and fireworks over Lake Burley Griffin.
