There's Nothing Like a Traditional Aussie Family Holiday.

Need a holiday that the whole family will love? Mother of Two Sophie Falkiner reveals her top destinations for travelling with children.

4 Great Family Holidays

1. Byron Bay, NSW

"I recently travelled there with my family and we ditched the car, hired bikes for the whole week, swam, relaxed and ate great food. I loved that you’re spoiled for choice when it comes to their gorgeous beaches. You can go for a run up to the lighthouse or have a massage in one of the many day spas, while the kids are entertained with horse riding, surfing and swimming at the many amazing beaches. We went looking for crabs on the rocks around Wategoes, and spent hours looking for dolphins from the summit of the lighthouse, the most easterly point in Australia. You can choose your own speed and what type of holiday you want every time you go there."

2. Gerroa, NSW

"A couple of times a year my whole family heads down to my parents beach house in Gerroa on the NSW South Coast. It's a beautiful part of the world. We play beach cricket, lawn bowls, go for long walks and cook up big feasts every night and then play charades after dinner. The kids love hanging out with their cousins. It's chaotic but super fun."

3. Hayman Island, QLD

"The kids love swimming around by the pool and exploring the surrounding Great Barrier Reef. A glass bottomed boat cruise is a great way to see the reef, and the kids loved learning about all the different marine life. If you really want to spoil the family, take a private helicopter ride to the beautiful Whitehaven Beach, one of the best swimming spots in Australia, with over eight kilometres of pristine and untouched sand."

4. Uluru, NT

"The whole family will have a great time riding camels to breakfast or dinner and will be completely taken away with the magical sight of Uluru at sunset. Camping in the middle of the desert is a truly unbelievable experience and you can also rent a four-wheel drive and explore the majestic West MacDonnell Ranges on the way to Kings Canyon."

What is your favourite capital city in Australia to holiday in? Why?

"Definitely Melbourne. I used to live there as a little girl. They have amazing food, fashion and events, plus I love heading down to the spa country at Daylesford for mini breaks"
