Arkapena Scenic Adventure is a genuine four wheel drive experience through some of the most spectacular scenery of South Australia’s Flinders Ranges. The Arkapena track follows old mustering and fire trails on the 12,000 hectares Arkapena Station to the south and east of Wilpena Pound. The track begins with gentle slopes of dodonea bushland, arid native pine forest and Redgum creeks, among the foothills of the Chace Range. Here the geological history of the Flinders Ranges unfolds. Ancient sedimentary deposits of sand and silt have solidified and been molded into the rugged slopes of the surrounding Chace, Wilpena and Elder Ranges. Arkapena Scenic Adventure culminates in the Prelinna Lookout (679 metres) where you are rewarded with spectacular views of the surrounding Flinders Ranges. Allow approximately four hours to complete the 40 kilometre track.

Explore the natural artesian springs within Wabma Kadarbu Mound Springs Conservation Park, a true oasis in the desert. Blanche Cup and The Bubbler mound springs are the attractions of this park. Water from the depths of the Great Artesian Basin filters to the surface forming slowly bubbling ponds and mounds from the sediments and salts as the water evaporates. Permanent wetlands created by the spring's overflow provide habitat for a variety of waterbirds; making it perfect for birdwatching. Nearby Hamilton Hill, a large hill in an otherwise flat landscape is an extinct mound spring and another significant feature of this extremely fragile and arid environment. The park is a day visitor area only and there are no visitor facilities within the park. Camping is available for a small fee at nearby Coward Springs. This privately run camping area, located next to the bore, provides toilets and showers. Wabma Kadarbu Mound Springs Conservation Park is located 498 kilometres north of Port Augusta, access is via the Oodnadatta Track. The spring's entrance is about six kilometres south-east of Coward Springs. Vehicle access within the park is limited to the four kilometre long entrance road to Blanche Cup and The Bubbler mound springs.

The Bridle Track is a popular four wheel drive track which commences ten kilometres west of Melrose. The track provides an opportunity for not only a great challenging drive, but also some of the most outstanding views in the Southern Flinders Ranges. Accessed via Survey Road from the Port Germein Gorge, this area abounds with natural beauty. To gain the best views it is essential to travel the track east to west.
