Cape Borda Lightstation is testament to a bygone era of travelling the open seas by sail, and is a monument to isolation and hardship. The precinct is steeped in European history and consists of an unusual square lighthouse built in 1858, several historic Lighthouse Keepers cottages and a museum. Visitors can learn more about the island's fascinating maritime heritage on a guided tour (fee applies). For a blast, don't miss the 12.30pm tour for the daily firing of the cannon at 1pm, which was once used so that ships could set their clocks and as a warning signal to ships, venturing too close to the shore in fog. Other highlights include the museum where you can read the diaries of early Lighthouse Keepers. The nearby Lighthouse Keeper's Cemetery at Harvey's Return also offers a sobering insight into the hardships faced by early Lighthouse Keepers and their families. Facilities include picnic areas with sheltered gas barbecues and there are a number of walks available nearby, including the Cliff Top Hike. To really experience the spectacular beauty and tranquillity of Cape Borda, why not stay overnight in a charming self-contained Lighthouse Keeper's cottage. Nearby Harvey's Return has a campground (camping fees apply).

Witness the amazing forces of nature at Admirals Arch, located at Cape du Couedic in Flinders Chase National Park. A viewing platform and boardwalk around a cliff face leads visitors to this spectacular natural rock arch known as Admiral's Arch, sculpted by weathering and erosion from the sea over thousands of years. Observe a colony of New Zealand fur-seals on the rock platforms around Admirals Arch from the viewing platforms and boardwalk. These dark brown seals feed at sea but return to land to rest and breed. Breeding occurs in summer when males establish territorial areas encompassing a number of females. Fur-seal pups can often be seen playing near the rock pools beneath the arch. Admirals Arch can be easily reached from the boardwalk at Cape du Couedic. Lighthouse heritage accommodation is available nearby.

Enjoy a self-guided tour of the honey room and learn about bee communication and social organisation, the process of honey production, collection, extraction techniques and bee by-products. Prospect Hill is one of the most stopped by spots on Kangaroo Island. The road from the ferry terminal at Penneshaw goes right by and so just about every visitor to the island passes it. Explorer Matthew Flinders rowed to the end of Pelican Lagoon, a few hundred metres away, in 1802 and then tramped up the hill. The Investigator Trail more or less follows his steps. Park at the small parking area by the road at Pelican Lagoon and walk the trail to Prospect Hill. The lookout there offers glorious views across the narrowest part of the island. Signs explain the flora, fauna, geology and history of the area. The walk back to your car takes only a few minutes.
