Sunset Winery is Kangaroo Island’s first purpose built cellar door/winery. Part of our production policy is that all fruit for the wine is sourced from Kangaroo Island vineyards. Sunset Winery has elevated sea views overlooking picturesque Eastern Cove and beyond. The winery is situated amongst fourteen hectares of native bushland. Many species of birds can be seen, and kangaroos, the goanna and echidna, all call Sunset Winery home. Four hundred sheoaks have been planted as a food source for the endangered Glossy Black Cockatoo. Enjoy a light lunch featuring their Savouring Platter served with tastings of their seven premium wines, or relax with a glass of wine on the all weather deck area. With your wine purchase, why not buy some of the local cheeses, olives or oil and share the Sunset experience with special friends back home.

Perched above the sea in Flinders Chase National Park, the impressive Remarkable Rocks form what appear to be a cluster of precariously balanced granite boulders. This stunning work of nature has been shaped by the erosive forces of wind, sea spray and rain over some 500 million years. The golden orange lichen covering some of the rocks offers visitors wonderful photo opportunities at different times of the day. Interpretation signs share the story of how these intriguing rocks were formed with a viewing platform providing a vantage point for disabled access.

Cape Borda Lightstation is testament to a bygone era of travelling the open seas by sail, and is a monument to isolation and hardship. The precinct is steeped in European history and consists of an unusual square lighthouse built in 1858, several historic Lighthouse Keepers cottages and a museum. Visitors can learn more about the island's fascinating maritime heritage on a guided tour (fee applies). For a blast, don't miss the 12.30pm tour for the daily firing of the cannon at 1pm, which was once used so that ships could set their clocks and as a warning signal to ships, venturing too close to the shore in fog. Other highlights include the museum where you can read the diaries of early Lighthouse Keepers. The nearby Lighthouse Keeper's Cemetery at Harvey's Return also offers a sobering insight into the hardships faced by early Lighthouse Keepers and their families. Facilities include picnic areas with sheltered gas barbecues and there are a number of walks available nearby, including the Cliff Top Hike. To really experience the spectacular beauty and tranquillity of Cape Borda, why not stay overnight in a charming self-contained Lighthouse Keeper's cottage. Nearby Harvey's Return has a campground (camping fees apply).
