Spectators and yachties from around the globe sail to Hamilton Island in August for Audi Hamilton Island Race Week, Australia's largest annual offshore yachting regatta. Race Week is one of Australia's favourite yachting events and a firm fixture on the international sailing calendar. Competitors, family and friends come together to enjoy the convivial atmosphere and unique camaraderie of the event's on and off-water carnival. Racing is split into various categories, from Grand Prix class for top-class racers, to IRC Passage class, performance racing and sports boat classes. More recently, the introduction of a Superyacht and SB3 divisions has added yet another dynamic to the event. The Hamilton Island Yacht Club and marina are home to the regatta during the excitement of Race Week. Join in the festivities and lively calendar of events, including gourmet meals prepared by celebrity chefs, fashion shows, golfing competitions and wine tastings.

The 25th annual Vision Surveys Airlie Beach Race Week is set to be the biggest regatta to date in the Whitsundays. Hosted by the Whitsunday Sailing Club, all new and returning participants are invited to join in six days of great sailing and seven nights of tropical fun. Known as the 'Tropical Shirt Regatta', Airlie Beach Race Week showcases the beautiful Whitsunday islands and the vibrant atmosphere of Airlie Beach. Migrating whales are also a common sight. Airlie Beach Race Week is the largest keelboat regatta off Queensland's mainland and promises great sailing and socialising for participants and spectators. The event is part of the Whitsundays Season of Sailing and the Great Whitsunday Fun Race is held the day after race week.
