Whitsunday Marketing and Development Ltd is the official Regional Tourism Organisation for the Whitsundays region and manages the accredited Whitsunday Region Information Centre, on the Bruce Highway at Proserpine. Located on the northbound side of the highway, next door to the Proserpine Museum, the Information Centre is a valuable resource of information about the Whitsundays. Visitors can also make bookings at the centre before arriving in Airlie Beach, Bowen and on the Whitsunday Islands, and for travel north and southbound information within Queensland. The centre is staffed by a permanent Information Centre Co-ordinator and supported by volunteers.

The mainland gateway to the Whitsundays, the Whitsunday Coast Airport is conveniently located just 30 minutes from Airlie Beach and is only 12 kilometres south of Proserpine. Whitsunday Coast Airport is currently serviced by three commercial carriers Jetstar, Virgin Australia and Tiger Airways. Virgin Australia and Jetstar offer daily flights from Brisbane and connecting flights from other cities. Tiger Airways provides direct flights to and from Sydney on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. Facilities are available for charter flights and light aircraft. Hire car and transfer services agencies include Hertz, Europcar, Avis and Budget; bus, coach, taxi and limousine services on an individual or share basis; and a reservations centre to book accommodation or tours in the Whitsundays. The Whitsunday Coast Airport terminal hosts a fully licensed cafe, bar and kiosk. Public amenities are also provided.

The Bowen Visitor Information Centre is located on the Bruce Highway in South Bowen. This accredited visitor information centre offers a one stop shop for travel information including maps, brochures, and itineraries. Staffed by skilled and knowledgeable locals, the Bowen Visitor Information Centre can provide advice on the things to see, things to do and where to eat. The modern airport handles direct flights daily from Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Cairns, operated by Jetstar, Virgin Australia and QantasLink. Private flights and charters also fly into Hamilton Island Airport, along with locally operated helicopters, light planes and seaplanes. Also known as the Great Barrier Reef Airport, the airport is the launch pad for scenic flights to the Reef and magnificent Whitehaven Beach. Whitsunday Airport is located at Flametree on the Whitsunday Coast, halfway between Airlie Beach and Shute Harbour. The hub of most sightseeing and adventure services, the airport is also a private commercial airfield and residential estate. Services available from the Whitsunday Airport include charter flights to and from the islands and other destinations by arrangement, sky diving, helicopter joy flights and lessons, and scenic seaplane adventures to the Great Barrier Reef and Whitehaven Beach.
