Northern Territory's gourmet food experiences

Eating and drinking are experiences in themselves in the Northern Territory. Food and wine in Australia’s top end is a world away from the norm, with magical outdoor dining, spectacular landscape backdrops and colourful personalities behind the incredible food. Singaporean journalist Esther Au Yong, Brazillian chefs Rodrigo Oliveira and Aharon Rosa, Malaysian journalist Julie Wong, Chinese food blogger Sabrina Ping and Indonesian celebrity blogger Alexander Thian spent a couple of days uncovering the magic of this region. 

Esther Au Yong, Rodrigo Oliveira and Aharon Rosa began their Northern Territory holiday with the ultimate experience, a 30 minute PHS helicopter ride over Uluru and Kata Tjuṯa with SEIT Outback Australia tours.

After a delicious breakfast with a view, it was time to learn about Western Indigenous Art at the Maruku Arts Dot Painting Workshop. 

Continuing their culinary journey with SEIT Outback Australia on an Uluru Kuniya Walk and Bush Tucker tour, Ester, Rodrigo and Aharon learnt about the importance of Indigenous food and sampled a variety including the finger lime.

Finishing off an amazing day, they watched the sun set at Longitude 131° overlooking Uluru-Kata Tjuṯa National Park with drinks and canapés, followed by one of the most unforgettable experiences, dinning under the stars at Sounds of Silence in the Uluṟu-Kata Tjuṯa National Park.

Next Alexander Thian visited Bean Tree Café in Alice Springs where he tried the delicious smoked kangaroo salad with lemon myrtle labne. 

While Julie Wong and Sabrina Ping embarked on their culinary adventure by starting with a Darwin Barra and Crab tour to catch a famous Top End mud crab. They then headed to Nightcliff Markets and had a chef create a delicious meal from their catch.

Finishing off their gourmet day, they headed to Ubirr in the Kakadu National Park for a delicious meal of crocodile and king prawns cooked by chef Chung Jae Lee.
