Taste your way across the dairy heartland

The South Coast is renowned for its creamy, high-quality dairy, which it’s been producing for over 160 years. Visit Bega Cheese Heritage Centre, where the creamery has been in operation since 1899. Pick up a block of their award-winning vintage cheddar. Next, sample the cheddars infused with native ingredients at Bodalla Dairy. Then head to sixth-generation regenerative farm The Pines. Stock up on local produce and more dairy at The Pines Pantry and Gelato Bar.

Celebrate the bounty

The Narooma Oyster Festival, held in October, celebrates the region’s plump, fresh oysters. From mid-June to mid-July, the South Coast celebrates one of its more unexpected gourmet treasures – fungi. The Fungi Feastival stretches from Bateman’s Bay to Eden, offering a packed calendar of truffle foraging, science discussions, art exhibitions, wellness events and children’s activities. To sample the regional produce year-round, stop in at the Tilba Market held every Saturday in a heritage-listed hall.
