Getting around Sydney is simple thanks to its efficient public transport network, walkable areas and easy access to taxis and ride shares.

The harbourfront precincts of Sydney Harbour, The Rocks and Barangaroo Reserve are easily explored on foot, leaving ample time to take in stunning waterfront views.

The iconic Bondi Beach is well connected to the city by public transport, though you can also drive if you prefer more flexibility.

Ferries are a particularly scenic way to travel across the harbour to Manly and Mosman, where you can enjoy the journey as much as the destination, with easy access to beaches, walking trails and Taronga Zoo Sydney.

You can’t go wrong visiting Sydney at any time of the year, although the warmer months from November to March are when the city really comes to life. Down Under, the seasons are opposite to the Northern Hemisphere, so this period falls during Australia's spring and summer.

• Spring (September to November): Daytime temperatures are pleasant, with averages between 11°C (52°F) and 23°C (74°F). The season is perfect for strolling Sydney's coastal walks, like the Bondi to Coogee walk.
• Summer (December to February): The sun is shining during Sydney's summer, with temperatures averaging 19°C (66°F) to 26°C (79°F). Take advantage of beach days at Bondi Beach, a swim at the iconic Bondi Icebergs Pool or snorkelling in the clear waters of Cabbage Tree Bay Aquatic Reserve. 
• Autumn (March to May): Temperatures fall slightly in autumn, ranging from 15°C (59°F) to 22°C (72°F). Head to the Blue Mountains to enjoy the changing autumn colours.
• Winter (June to August): Winter brings cooler daytime temperatures (averaging 9°C/48°F to 17°C/63°F), but you'll enjoy fewer crowds, incredible whale watching and the colourful lights of Vivid Sydney.
