With the countdown officially on until Melbourne plays host to The World’s 50 Best Restaurants this April, it’s a fitting time to highlight the best food and wine experiences that the country has to offer. When it comes to breakfast Australia really shines, forget your standard bacon and eggs, the ‘brekkie’ dishes here are so inventive that you’ll want to eat them all day long.
@The Boathouse, Bread & Circus, the Kettle Black
The Boathouse Balmoral, Sydney, New South Wales
It’s hard to decide what’s more appealing at The Boathouse Balmoral… the artfully arranged fruit platters, coastal-themed coffees and perfectly poached eggs, or the stunning water views of Balmoral. Luckily, you get to have them both.
Bread & Circus Wholefoods Canteen, Sydney, New South Wales
At Bread & Circus Wholefoods Canteen the food comes beautifully served up on pastel-coloured plates, and even better, it’s actually good for you!
The Kettle Black, Melbourne, Victoria
At The Kettle Black, hotcakes with ricotta, blueberries, maple, double cream, seeds and nuts are best when paired with a top-notch coffee, which of course Melbourne is rather famous for.
@The Grounds, Signal Station,<br />The Rabbit Hole
The Grounds of Alexandria, Sydney, New South Wales
An oasis tucked away in Sydney’s inner south, The Grounds of Alexandria is an extensive hub of locally harvested produce, organic gardens, farm animals, fresh flowers and baked goods. One thing is guaranteed here – the Instagram opportunities are endless!
Signal Station Brasserie, Hobart, Tasmania
This is eggs benedict done Tassie-style! Here at Signal Station Brasserie, this classic breakfast dish comes with delicious local salmon cured in beetroot, vodka and gin. Oh, and the panoramic views of Hobart, the Derwent River and O'Possum Bay are pretty special too!
The Rabbit Hole Organic Tea Bar, Sydney, New South Wales
The brunch dishes at The Rabbit Hole are almost to pretty to eat – almost! Think coconut, pineapple and berry brunch bowls, and earl grey infused raspberry jam with pepe saya butter on sourdough.
@Skypoint, Bib & Tucker, Celcius Coffee Co, White Elephant
Skypoint Observation Deck, Gold Coast, Queensland
Who even knew that you could have breakfast at the highest point above the Gold Coast? Well, you can at Skypoint Observation Deck, and you'll be rewarded with an EPIC view.
Bib & Tucker, Fremantle, Western Australia
Bib & Tucker's buttermilk pancakes with banana, salted caramel, pecans and Tasmanian double cream come served with a side of breathtaking views over the Indian Ocean.
Celsius Coffee Co, Sydney, New South Wales
Perched on Kirribilli’s wharf, at Celsius Coffee Co you can indulge in an inventive breakfast menu and excellent coffee whilst seemingly floating on water. Here, million dollar views accompany breakfast dishes such as chilli buttered eggs with house made onion jam.
White Elephant Café, Gnarabup, Western Australia
It’s hard to beat the feeling of an early morning swim or stand-up paddle boarding session in the ocean, followed by coffee and a hearty breakfast. At White Elephant Café you don’t have to walk far from the sand for this experience – or even wear shoes for that matter!
