It’s no secret that Adelaide is well known for its food and wine culture. Whether it’s fine dining or just a quick snack that you’re after, there’s so much to choose from. Here’s a guide to show you a good cross section of the best this city has to offer.
Penfolds Magill Estate Cellar Door
Just 15 minutes from the city of Adelaide is the Magill Estate Vineyard, home to one of the oldest wineries in Australia, Penfolds. Penfolds Wines is famous for their Grange, which has been officially listed as a Heritage Icon of South Australia.
Sample the celebrated varietals, or go on a tour to explore the vineyard and distillery and learn about the history of winemaking.

Magill Estate Vineyard is also where you’ll find the award winning fine dining establishment, Penfolds Magill Estate Restaurant.
This is one of the best restaurants you can experience in Australia. Make sure you have plenty of time to spend here to enjoy the eight course degustation journey along with matching wines. Needless to say, don’t drive.
Madame Hanoi
Madame Hanoi, North Terrace, Adelaide, South Australia
Madame Hanoi is located in Adelaide Casino, just above the Adelaide Railway Station. The Vietnamese menu is designed for sharing so the more the merrier as you can try more dishes.
There is an open kitchen where you can watch the food preparation, and also a bar area where you can have a pre-dinner drink while waiting for your friends or a table. You can pick from the individual menu items or just let Madame Hanoi choose the dishes for you with two banquet options.
Abbots & Kinney
Abbots & Kinney, Adelaide, South Australia
Just a few streets away from Rundle Street Mall, Abbots & Kinney is well known for its pastries, one bite into them and you’ll know why. The breakfast menu includes pastries full of fresh toppings or sandwiches stuffed with cheese and other tasty fillings. With every breakfast item under ten dollars, they will have you wanting to come back to try all of the items on the menu. Abbots & Kinney also serve up a lunch menu.
Nola Craft Beer & Whiskey
NOLA Craft Beer & Whiskey, Adelaide, South Australia
Located on Vardon Avenue, NOLA is surrounded by other bars and pubs that also offer great food and beverages. NOLA draws its inspiration from New Orleans with a focus on Creole and Cajun Soul Food. The menu here is also designed for sharing, so it’s a great place to gather with a group of friends. My favourite was the fried chicken cooked to perfection with a crispy, crunchy skin crust and tender juicy meat.
Hey Jupiter
Hey Jupiter, Adelaide, South Australia
Hey Jupiter is a French-influenced cafe, located in a back street with servers who actually have a french accent. There’s an all day breakfast service consisting of croissants, baguettes, brioche, and toast; with a selection of sides including eggs, ham, goat's curd, bacon, salmon, tilsit, jamon, tomatoes, avocado, and mozzarella.
If you fancy a drink in the morning, they also have a Champagne Breakfast for two
