Did you know?
Stephanie Helm from The Vintner’s Daughter Winery grew up not far away – learning the craft from her winemaker father, Ken Helm of Helm Wines.
Morning
Your culinary journey starts in Canberra. Stop by The Cupping Room for some of the city’s best coffee and crunchy granola. After breakfast drive just a half an hour to Murrumbateman, one of the hubs of Canberra’s wine district.
The area is home to many notable cellar doors including Shaw Wines and Mount Majura Vineyard, among others.
Begin your wine exploration at Brindabella Hills Winery where you’ll find stunning views and top drops. Set on a ridge above the Murrumbidgee River, this winery is perfectly situated to produce lively sangiovese and elegant riesling.
Afternoon
Your next stop is The Vintner’s Daughter, about a 30-minute drive away. Sit down for a tasting of their small-batch drops and be sure to say ‘g’day’ to the resident goats on your way out.
Neighbouring The Vintner’s Daughter is Four Winds Vineyard. Indulge in a wine tasting before ordering a wood-fired pizza or platter from the deli fridge. Be sure to bring a hat and picnic rug to enjoy your lunch next to the vines.
After tasting a selection of Murrumbateman’s best wines, stop by Robyn Rowe Chocolates (open Friday to Sunday) to buy decadent local chocolates before picking up some smoked goods – think bresaola and kangaroo prosciutto – from Poachers Pantry.
Another 25-minute drive will bring you back into Canberra to stay within the melting pot of design, culture, food and fashion at Midnight Hotel – only a stroll to the hustle of Braddon.

Morning
Have a hearty breakfast at the sunny and sophisticated Braddon Merchant, located on the ground floor of Midnight hotel. Next, step out into Braddon to browse the boutiques and pop-up stores.
Drive out of Canberra along the Federal Highway to the modest town of Collector, home to an art gallery, pub and plenty of fresh produce. A visit to Collector Wines can be arranged by appointment, where you can enjoy emerging varieties by the fire in winter or outside in the garden in summer. Pop next door to Some Café if you need another dose of caffeine.
About a ten-minute drive will bring you to Lake George Winery where you can taste fine wines and enjoy a long lunch or share a charcuterie board in the welcoming Westering Restaurant. Keep an eye out for the charming Little George – a sustainable (and pet-friendly) tiny house perfect for your next visit.
Afternoon
Head back toward Canberra and stop at BentSpoke Brew Pub. Here you’ll find 18 varieties of beer and cider, all brewed on site. Watch the brew team at work and sample a selection of brews by the pint.
Book in dinner at XO which serves up traditional south-east Asian dishes with an innovative twist.
Spend another night at Midnight Hotel.
