Welcome to the farm

Welcome to the farm

Aussies love keeping it local, and you can’t get much closer to the source than tasting sun-warmed strawberries plucked straight from the vine. Get your hands dirty filling a basket with ruby-red fruit at Beerenberg Farm, or saddle up for a viticulture experience like no other with a horseback vineyard tour and wine tasting in a boutique cellar door. Discover seed-to-skin beauty, meet the makers behind some of Australia’s favourite skincare products and head into the fields to handpick botanicals.

Luxury stays among the hills

In an area famous for food and wine, your accommodation should be just as much a part of the landscape as the surrounding farms and vineyards. Wake to the sound of birdsong at a 175-year-old manor, then dine on the region’s abundant produce at Mount Lofty House’s lavish onsite restaurant. Nearby, you’ll find Sequoia Luxury Lodge – an adult’s only retreat set high amongst the hills, where guests can try their hand at beekeeping with a guided tour of the estate’s hives.

Boutique tours and experiences

With so much to see, taste and touch in the Adelaide Hills, the best way to immerse yourself in the region’s farm-to-table culture is on a private tour. Embark on a Coast & Co journey and gain insider access to boutique cellar doors, where you’ll have the chance to learn about cool climate winemaking and taste-test limited releases. Or, tuck into local cheese, pair chocolate with wine, and stroll the fairytale streets of Hahndorf on a culinary excursion with Taste of South Australia.

Culinary celebrations

Year-round, there’s plenty to celebrate about this agricultural hotspot and plenty of ways to dig a little deeper into life on the land. Every Saturday, local producers set up shop at the Mount Pleasant Farmer’s Market, selling everything from sourdough to citrus, and coffee beans to craft spirits, so you can fill your belly with homegrown and handcrafted goodies. Head to Lenswood orchard for apple-picking season in autumn, when the orchard gate is wide open and the fruit is at its sweetest.
